Memorial Day Weekend

What a weekend. A lot was accomplished and we had fun in the sun as well.
Friday I finished the washed stone landscaping around the deck and Todd helped Erica plant a couple tomato plants and perennial flowers.
The water was pretty cold for swimming (thought Todd, Dad and I did jump in) so a lot of fishing was had. I believe my mom caught the largest fish. We ended having a harty fish fry for one of the meals.
Kaya would rather feed grandpa than himself.
The cold water didn't bother Kaya. Now I just have to teach him that sand doesn't taste good.
Uncle Todd was able to give Kaya an outdoor shower.
Brian, Todd and I went for a quick hike to Devil's Lake. The place was packed. The ladies were out shopping and up to mischief.
Sunday night we got together with our Baraboo friends for a cook out. Kaya had fun with Owen when he wasn't head butting him, kidding.

Kaya's 1st Birthday

Kaya turned 1 yesterday. We had friends and family over to help celebrate. It was chilly and windy but sunny and we made the best of it. Erica, my mom, grandma and aunt Peggy whipped up some delicious food. Our friend Tennille made Kaya's cake. It looked awesome and tasted great too. Thanks to everyone who came and Kaya really appreciates all the gifts.Kaya had his own cake and he seemed to enjoy the frosting the most. I shot some video of this along with the aftermath. Stayed tuned for a video another day.

Devil's Lake Ride

My buddy Chris and I took the boys on a ride to the north shore at Devil's Lake last night. I struggled making it up the hills to get there. He's an avid rider. The ride home was very relaxing though. Kaya enjoyed time with Parker and playing in the sand. He also enjoyed eating rocks. Funny guy would drop his nuk and eat a rock only when I turned my head. We also had a picnic dinner. Kaya seemed very thrilled with his cheese sandwich, which he pretty much only ate the cheese, and a banana. The simple things in life seem to go a long way.

Vim weekend

What a weekend. Friday and Saturday I had Vim shows. They were both fun shows but I am now reminded how much work and energy they take. Both nights we went on at later times than we normally do but friends and family stilled ventured out. Thank you to all that made it out.
I did find some free time in-between naps to go to a couple parks in Freeport with Erica, her brother Aaron and his kids. Kaya's first merry-go-round ride. I think he enjoyed it a lot better than I did when I was his age. Even saturday I was still uneasy about the ride.

Busy Times

Brad has been pestering me for days to update the blog! So here I am… I do appreciate him regularly taking the time to update it so all of you know what is going on in our daily lives. Last weekend was very busy for us as I had to work, my brother and his family came for a visit and Brad assisted in helping putting pier in at the cottage. Brad and I also kept ourselves busy with some yard work. I love how our yard looks when I am done mowing it as it looks like a PARK :) I need to specify that I mow the lawn as Brad tries to take credit for my hard work!! My wonderful father-in-law and mother-in-law dropped off our 3 whiskey barrels that were purchased for our wedding from my fabulous father. I am going to use them to plant tomatoes this spring. We had a fantastic time with my brother, Aaron and his family. We went to Buffalo Phil’s for dinner and then took the kids to Knuckleheads for some games and good times! I must say that Aaron and Brad sure did partake in the fun as I was unable to find Brad for the last hour we were there because he was riding motorcycles with Jordan and Aaron was busy accumulating 500+ coupons on some game that he took a liking to. Kaya was mesmerized by all the lights and sounds, on the way home he was wide eyed and blinked very little. We were all exhausted by the time we got home. Kaylee, Jordan and Zach all took great care of their cousin, Kaya and they all played together very well. We also went to Ochsner Zoo as it was beautiful out. What a busy weekend. We are looking forward to this upcoming weekend as we will again be spending it with family and friends. Personally, I am looking forward to Sunday as it is my 1st Mother’s Day that I personally get to celebrate! Hope you found this semi interesting – peace out
